After three and a half months of extensive renovations and technology upgrades, the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center's SPACE THEATER is ready to amaze and astound with breathtaking new IMAX films. Tonight we celebrate the grand reopening of this state of the art facility, which includes a new screen, a 16,000 watt digital surround system, optical enhancements to the IMAX projection system and new seating and carpeting, with a showcasing of the latest IMAX film:

VAN GOGH: BRUSH WITH GENIUS:

VAN GOGH: Brush with Genius, a new 40-minute IMAX® film about the life and paintings of Vincent van Gogh.

VAN GOGH leads viewers on a journey through the surprisingly short 9-year period of the artist's career during which he painted more than 900 paintings. Told from the perspectives of three main characters -- Ellen, a museum researcher, Peter, a film director, and Vincent van Gogh himself -- VAN GOGH follows in the artist's footsteps, traveling from the Netherlands to Auvers-sur-Oise and passing through Arles, Saint-Rémy and Paris. From the dazzling yellow of the artist's famous cornfields to the deep blue of his famous night sky, audiences will rediscover the source of some of the most important works in art history.

PLEASE NOTE: This event takes place on at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park.

ALSO PLEASE NOTE: This program is one hour long, and includes a formal introduction, screening and brief question-and-answer session. Our show times are 7:00PM and 8:15PM—if your season pass is numbered 001 thru 400, please consider attending the 7:00PM show; if your season pass numbers 401 or greater, please consider attending the 8:15PM show. Whatever time you choose, note that the doors will open for check in 30 minutes prior to each show, and that auditorium doors will open five to ten minutes prior to the program start time (although the store and café will be closed, the exhibit galleries will be open for our enjoyment).
