THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES
THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES, based on the first of the best selling crime novel series by Jussi Adler-Olsen, is inspired by the Swedish mystery thriller series THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATOO.
Following a shootout that left his two partners dead and paralyzed respectively, chief Detective Carl Morck is assigned to the newly established Department Q, a repository for cold cases. The department consists only of himself and his new assistant Assad. Although they receive explicit orders to restrict themselves to filing the cases, Morck’s stubborn nature throws them headlong into the mystery of politician Merete Lynggaard’s disappearance from a passenger ferry. The only witness is her brain-damaged brother. The case was put to rest as an apparent suicide. Unconvinced by this explanation, Morck and Assad set off on a journey that takes them deep into the undercurrents of abuse and malice that lurk beneath the polished surface of Scandinavia.
Running Time: 100 Minutes. Not Rated.
PLEASE NOTE: THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES is in Danish with English Subtitles

Fantastic film Andy...unexpected twists and turns, great acting, building suspense without the gratuitous violence that American cinema seems to depend on. Thanks for bringing this film to CS!

Well this was a welcome feature, nice to have an exciting and suspenseful experience that had me on the edge of my seat. I thought the acting was good/strong, the pacing/editing was great and just a sharp film all around. I think this will make a great series of films and I look forward to (hopefully) getting to see the Swedish versions in the future.
I can understand the hesitation to make a an Americanized version based on the results of the attempt with Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, however I can think of a couple interesting actors that could really complement the Swedish actors/characters. Maybe if “we” didn’t want to do features then maybe start a new TV series (a’la HBO’s True Detectives), I’d watch it!

"The Keeper of Lost Causes" is the best suspenseful thriller since "The Loft" a couple of years ago. Please continue to keep alert to these types of films. We love them. Perhaps there will be a sequel for the next Department Q case. Thanks.

Every year, I hope for a hidden gem, and finally, we got one! One that I would like to see again and one that I would recommend to friends. I am inspired to read the book, to boot.

Great Movie. Such a shame that the US will never see it. Ihope they make more in teh series.
I did think that the foreign version of Girl iwth the Dragon Tatoo was slightly better, but this movie was head and shoulders over some of the other recent movies weve been seeing. Thank you Andy for going through the trouble to get this one!

Could be my very favorite film of the season. Rich, highly textured movie with virtually no flaws. Wonderful writing, cinematography, chemistry and acting. Can see why the comparison was made the "The Girl." We were quite honored to see this very special movie when virtually nobody else will have the pleasure. This is why we belong to The Cinema Society. Thank you, Andy

I'd read the book, so had some expectation of how creepy/scary the story here is. The film is brilliant -- well acted, well written, well cast; the settings were bleak -- and perfect. Thank you Andy for your efforts in getting this wonderful movie to the Cinema Society -- here's hoping The Keeper of Lost Causes will be distributed in the U.S.
