ONE REVOLUTION

One Revolution intimately captures Chris Waddell's very human journey to dare greatly and ultimately to live fully. This film chronicles the heart and spirit behind an extraordinary achievement as it documents the first almost entirely unassisted paraplegic ascent of 19,340-foot Mt. Kilimanjaro. Featuring Chris Waddell, thirteen-time Paralympic medalist, five years removed from his final international competition and Tajiri Mungaya, a Tanzanian porter who's leg was amputated after a tragic rockslide on the slopes of Kilimanjaro, Chris begins the journey seeking international visibility for disabled athletes with Tajiri who is determined to return to the mountain that stole his leg and his livelihood.

Running Time: 80 Minutes Not Rated

I give the story and the message a 5 but the movie itself could have been more effective. For instance, I would have liked to have seen more dual focus on both Chris and Tajiri rather than the focus being so clearly on Chris -- they both accomplished a great deal. For instance, we did not see how Tajiri traversed the most difficult terrain, Did he also require assistance?

The fact that this film was a first effort showed.

That said, given the availability of Chris and the film maker, I think this was a fine choice for Cinema Society viewing.

Pretty much a home video.

I am happy for Chris that he is still active.

But, not something that I would have paid to see.

I am sure they feel good about the film but I don't think it will do anything as a theatrical release.

An inspiring and courageous film that was good, especially for a first time filmmaker, however I do think it lacked that little something that captivates the documentary viewer, that sense of intensity and drama, that feeling of getting lost in the story so much you think it's fiction. There were a lot of good messages. I’d have no qualms about recommending this film. Of course the viewing was made all the more enjoyable because Chris Waddell was in attendance.

What an inspiration Chris Waddell is--I'm still stunned by his achievement. And I thought I did something remarkable by hiking Mt. Whitney several years ago--nope--not even close. It was a very special evening Andy. Thanks for making it happen.

While I could not help but respect the mission Mr. Waddell is pursuing I found the movie to be a sanctimonious bore. The speaker was right when saying this should have been a Youtube video or a home movie. Not quite sure why this was presented to the Cinema Society.

Was this film about Chris being an inspiration, or about Chris and Tajiri, or about Chris successfully climbing a mountain, or about Chris failing to climb a mountain? It lacked focus. Also, I found the Tajiri story distracting. Still, it was wonderful.

I really enjoyed last evening's presentation. The movie was interesting as was the guest. This is the type of Cinema Society event that I really like -- a movie that is interesting and informative, and one that I would not otherwise have the chance to see.
