GRAVITY

Academy Award® winners Sandra Bullock (THE BLIND SIDE) and George Clooney (SYRIANA) star in GRAVITY, a heart-pounding thriller that pulls you into the infinite and unforgiving realm of deep space. The film was directed by Oscar® nominee Alfonso Cuaron (CHILDREN OF MEN).

Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes, the shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalski completely alone—tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness.

The deafening silence tells them that they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

A Warner Bros. Release, GRAVITY opens commercially in San Diego on October 4.

Running Time: 93 Minutes. Rated PG-13 for Intense Perilous Sequences, some disturbing images and brief strong language.

Please Note: GRAVITY will be shown in both auditoriums in 3-D.

Gravity is the best movie I've seen so far this year, with a great combination of tension building and tension breakers, and some of the best visual effects I think I've ever seen. The acting was impeccable. And I even liked the 3D, once I got a pair of glasses which worked; their active system is vastly superior to the passive (polarized sunglasses) system I've seen everywhere else. This may be the third time a Cuaron movie is my favorite for the year (Children Of Men, A Little Princess).

I liked it well enough and found it quite suspenseful. The special affects were noteworthy, and I'm sure the film will win all the technical awards at the Oscars. I thought Sandra Bullock's performance was very good - I certainly felt her fear.

My 3-d glasses, while heavy, were comfortable enough. What I didn't like was how dirty the lenses were. I tried to clean them, but all that seemed to do was smear the dirt around.

I guess I do not agree with the critics.

I did not find the movie suspenseful. In fact, I thought most of the dialogue was foolish. Of course, the special effects were great.

Two other points.

1. The seat saving is still out of hand.

2. This was not the kind of movie that keeps me as a member. The big theatrical releases I can see on my own at a senior price without fighting for a seat.

Has Andy done it again? Has the man who in the last few years has brought us ARGO, THE ARTIST, THE KING'S SPEECH, AND SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE brought us another winner? We shall see.

Although this kind of movie (special effects bonanza) is not my thing, I was totally engrossed in the movie . Felt like I was in it at times. Would have liked more about the charcter(s?).

Having the astronaut there was great.

Agree that the 3D glasses were too heavy .

I realize I'm very much in the minority (I've read the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes) but to me,this film was just a disaster movie on special effects steroids. The questionable science was distracting and worse, I didn't care about, or relate to either of the characters. A side note: please bring back the cheap plastic 3D glasses that don't give me a headache!

Due to being one of the unfortunate people who had a bad pair of 3-D glasses I am giving this film a 4. I liked the pace and action and because of the not so great experience with the glasses I will most likely see it again (maybe in IMAX 3-D!). I am sure this film will do great when it comes to technical awards and I can see why there is some Oscar buzz for Sandra Bullock but I will have to wait and see what other “Best Actress” works come out in the mean time before I’d give her my vote. Great speaker last night (2nd one from the Air & Space Museum), I liked that he enjoyed it and was able to share what was real-ish and unrealistic.
