SPINNING PLATES
Spinning Plates is a documentary about three extraordinary restaurants and the incredible people who make them what they are. A cutting-edge restaurant named the seventh-best in the world whose chef must battle a life-threatening obstacle to pursue his passion. A 150-year-old family restaurant still standing only because of the unbreakable bond with its community. A fledgling Mexican restaurant whose owners are risking everything just to survive and provide for their young daughter. Their unforgettable stories of family, legacy, passion and survival come together to reveal how meaningful food can be, and the power it has to connect us to one another.

There is no denying that SPINNING PLATES is an excellent, well-made documentary; obviously the work of a creative and experienced filmmaker. I loved Levy’s interviewing, editing, brisk pacing, his DP’s slick work, and, of course, his score. SPINNING PLATES lost a point when at the end Achatz likened his Alinea to his father’s diner, and by extension to Breitbach’s and Gabby’s. P.S. @Andy, your introduction of Mr. Levy may have been the finest he has ever heard, but it was a typical, wonderful introduction from you

Great story(s), I could have watched a documentary just about Grant or the Breitbach’s. Though I consider myself a foodie (really foodie-ish), I think I would be intimidated to try a place like Alinea, however, if given the chance (& the $$$$) I think it’d be a once in a lifetime experience I would never forget. It was really profound how Joseph Levy extracted that scene/sentiment from Grant that so perfectly encased all that was important and correct about these restaurants, how food, family and a sense of community is so key to a fulfilling life. Will keep this one on the radar and be sure to recommend to fellow “foodies” and those that just enjoy good documentaries when it is finally released.

Fantastic! Moving, engaging, and masterfully told. I loved the way Grant's narrative at the end pulled everything together.

This film is why we joined and remain loyal members of the Cinema Society. These jewels are not seen by the general public. The merging of these three very different stories was presented in masterful fashion. Surprisingly emotions were touched at various times in the show. Mr.Levy was a charming, engaging and brilliant guest. Andy, you done good

10+. Perfection. To be honored with Joseph Levy, himself, was "Food on the Fork Sculpture". I laughed, I cried, I loved. Thank you ANDY for bringing us this gift.
