ARGO

Based on true events, Warner Bros. Pictures' and GK Films' dramatic thriller ARGO chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis—the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades.

Academy Award® winner Ben Affleck ("The Town," "Good Will Hunting") directs and stars in the film, which is produced by Academy Award® winner George Clooney ("Syriana"), Oscar® nominee Grant Heslov ("Good Night, and Good Luck.") and Affleck.

ARGO also stars Oscar® winner Alan Arkin ("Little Miss Sunshine"), Bryan Cranston (TV's "Breaking Bad") and John Goodman ("You Don't Know Jack"). The main cast also includes Kerry Bishé, Kyle Chandler, Rory Cochrane, Christopher Denham, Tate Donovan, Clea DuVall, Victor Garber, Zeljko Ivanek, Richard Kind, Scoot McNairy, Chris Messina, Michael Parks, and Taylor Schilling.

ARGO, a presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures, in association with GK Films, opens commercially in San Diego on October 12th.

Running Time: 120 Minutes / Rated R for language and some violent images

Unaccustomed as I am to giving a 5, this film deserves it beginning to end. Ben Affleck has grown in his acting and directing into a reliable player. Living through the times depicted in the movie it brought back painful memories of the Carter era. The real "star" was the screenwriter. The tension/humor blend was close to perfect. It was fun watching Alan Arkin and John Goodman having fun verbally playing with each other. Have not stopped recommending the piece to family and friends. Can't wait to see just how many Academy Awards it will be nominated for.

First “5” of the season (and I don’t give them out easily). What a major feat for Ben Affleck to create such suspense and anxiety over a story where we already know the outcome. Loved the attention to detail for depicting the era and the specific scenes/pictures from the real historic event that took place all that time ago (as shown during the end credits). Though this film was made way before the recent horrific events in Benghazi, it proves that we have learned nothing from the past. Since we can turn on our TV and see the same tragedies going on today (almost scene for scene), that makes this film all the more real and terrifying. I expect to hear this movie called on a lot come Oscar nom time.

Extremely well done in every way.

What a heart pounder! Yes, we knew how it would turn out, but I was plenty nervous nonetheless.

Great script, acting and production values. Loved the scenes where scared people were shouting and talking over one another, even though I was sometimes confused about what was going on! Also loved the schtick between Goodman and Arkin. Some events depicted resonate with the expression of anti-American sentiment in the Middle East/North Africa today. So, I believe the movie asks the question: Have we learned anything? Wasn't crazy about the reconciliation of Tony Mendez with his wife at the end-- seemed kind of tagged on.
