Almost forgot to review this one! It wouldn’t be fair to the film to forget the review just because it was the last one and the season is over and we’ve all moved on, therefore, here is my take on the film.

Once again a delightful ending to another great season...so much so I am already signed up for next season (yeah me!).

As farfetched as the premise sounded I was intrigued and curious and I am glad to have “taken the journey”. I thought the film was clever and creative. I was very touched by David’s sensitive and thoughtful heart all while getting into trouble like a lost puppy. Of course once I heard that the U.S. version was soon to be in the works my mind was already trying to figure out who would be best cast, though I couldn’t think of the perfect person, I feel the most important part to get right in the remake is to truly capture David’s loving, good, true, heart. As aloof and lazy as he appears in the beginning it is clear that once on a clear path, he loves with all his being.

Too often men that are portrayed as single dads are moronic, goofy and brainless and it was refreshing to see not only David as a caring, concerned and conscience parent but also David’s Dad was a single/widowed parent and raised his sons well and David’s lawyer (and best friend) appeared to be a single father, though I don’t recall anything being said about him being married or divorced or even widowed, he was always shown to be the lone parent with his kids, doing the best he could (and better than most).

Good film with a great message!

Ditto, Margaret, plus how great was it to see the classic Padres cap?

What a great premise! I loved how we "met" some of the children. (How did the one discover Starbuck's true identity? I missed that.) Sharp dialogue and many wonderful performances, one of my favorite being that of the almost-lawyer/friend. In my opinion, the film occasionally ran out of steam -- at least 15 minutes could be edited out. It was a wonderful surprise to have Igor Ovadis appear for the Q&A. Unfortunately, the Q&A became bogged down during the translations from English to French and vice-versa.
