SALMON FISHING IN THE YEMEN
With a script from Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) based on Paul Torday’s bestselling novel, this witty rom-com revolves around the effort to make the impossible possible, as a reticent bureaucrat (Ewan McGregor) joins forces with a determined legal representative (the delectable Emily Blunt) to introduce fly fishing into the Middle East.
Directed by the modern maestro of cinematic whimsy Lasse Hallström (Chocolat, My Life as a Dog), and boasting a brilliantly brittle comedic performance by Kristin Scott Thomas as the Prime Minister’s PR maven, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen opens commercially in San Diego on March 23rd.
Running Time: 112 Minutes. Rated PG-13 for some violence and sexual content, and brief language

Light but not empty. It's great to see a professional film that's easy on the eyes and fun to watch.

Okay, so maybe a 4.5... But I really liked it. It was not a typical romantic comedy in that there were some interesting twists on the road to true love. I loved the dry humor. I would definitely recommend to my friends, and look forward to seeing it again either in the theater or on DVD.

I'm rating the whole evening because the film was heart warming, entertaining, hopeful and well acted---and your State of the Society address was informative and exciting. So much good news! I'm so proud that we will be funding a budding film maker from SDSU. Fabulous idea! I have already told several of my friends about your idea---perhaps we can get some new members because of our philanthropy!

Entertainment at its best. Out of the park for story-telling, magic, music, photography and acting.

Lots of fun -- especially enjoyed the dialogue! Delicious insults! Did not mind suspending belief (or disbelief) for 2 hours. In my opinion, the film would be improved with fewer "around the campfire" scenes -- I can't say there was too much exposition, exactly, but somehow felt like the script strained to make sure we were following the story. Also, I was disappointed by Harriett's reaction to seeing Robert after believing he was dead -- fainting, face paling, screaming --- that's what I would have expected.

While it was fun, I didn’t fall for it hook, line, and sinker. Would a sheik really do that? Would Harriet really fall in love with a middle-age bureaucrat? Would the PM’s PR person really do what she did? Maybe the absurdities led to the humor, but for me it led to incredulity.

Very delightful. It was, as you said, cinema lite, but very enjoyable. It requires a certain suspension of disbelief. The dry dead pan delivery of Ewen was marvelous, and a nice foil for Kriste Scott Thomas over the top humor. Surprisingly fun.

What a pleasant surprise. While "light" it held together well. Good writing. Actual chemistry between the actors. Would not hesitate recommending this film to anybody who will listen. Both laughed and (almost) cried. Thank you Andy for this little jewel.
