Each year we so look forward to this special event. Once again it proved to be one of the highlights of The Cinema Society. Though the selects were short of number, they certainly touched one all manner of emotion. Because of the Comittee's efforts the array of shorts were films we could not find on our own. My "fav" was "the Foundling" it was beautiful and professionally done. While I found the Japanese documentary was a bit too long, you had to appreciate the labor used to piece all the parts together,

We love the Cinema Society. This night is just one of the reasons why.

A great selection this year - one of the best in recent memory. The Cherry Blossom one was fantastic as was the Porcelain Unicorn. Loved The Screamers and Bob too - laugh out loud funny.

"If life is enjoyed, does it have to make sense?", Morris Lessmore. Despite the brilliance of this one short, the night was a disapointment. Maybe it's a down year, maybe I'm jaded. I guess you can't have a "My Mother Dreams the Satan's Disciples in New York" every year.

The short film night is always exceptional and this evening was once again terrific. The movies were all so different that rating any of them against the others was no small task. I loved the Ridley Scott film contest films that were charged with the same task, and presented two extremely unique films. The quality of this years' pieces was very high and professional. Thank you again to the "short film committee" for making this evening possible.

Andy, Mark, Claudia and Elliott: You hit this out of the park, as usual. The quality and variety of the short films were top notch -- whether I personally awarded a short a "5" or a "2" it was all good... The guest filmmakers were charming and eloquent. I invited a number of guests to the event; to a person they were enthusiastic about their Cinema Society experience. Here's one comment I received via e-mail:

I’m still thinking about the Japanese Cherry Blossom movie. It was a bit long toward the end but the narration and footage in the beginning was shocking. Japanese are difficult to warm up to. I had a Japanese boyfriend for a year and was never allowed to venture into the emotional epicenter. My WWll vintage parents always put Japanese in the same category as rattle snakes---------a healthy respect-----keep your distance. So……..it was refreshing to experience some emotion in the interviews. AND……….to see the victims find comfort and solace in the cherry blossom………at the other end of the spectrum.
