This movie was refreshingly different! Better than I expected.

One picture is worth a thousand words--as the old saying goes! What a fun viewing experience and I'm sure some Oscar noms are on the way.

Beatifully done and although the plot has certainly been visited before it was so well acted and so touching that it didn't seem to be a rehash of anything.

What a great film. Had me smiling from the opening titles. Terrific in every way. One of the best sound tracks I've ever heard in a silent movie. :)

I wanted to like this more than I did. I appreciated the homage and the charm and the novelty, but unfortunately I found myself struggling to stay awake. I haven't seen any other movies that have received Oscar buzz, but I have a hard time believing this one will rise above all others.

Maybe I got my hopes up too high. THE ARTIST started fast with an opening scene filled with humor and irony. Then it slowed down. Perhaps the director slowed it down purposely to better replicate the films from that era. Undeniably charming and nostalgic, THE ARTIST just didn’t live up to its hype.

I was so excited to see this film, I am a sucker for “classic” (old) films and I was not disappointed. I agree that the character George Valenti was a representation of Valentino/Fairbanks just in the way “Don Lockwood” (Gene Kelly) was in “Singing in the Rain”. In fact George & Constance’s relationship also reminded me of “Don Lockwood & Lina Lamont” and then there was the “Fred & Ginger” at the very end. Also having the amazing “Jack” (who almost steals the whole movie) reminded me of the “Thin Man”(s) with “Asta”. I really enjoyed the experience of this homage to the beginning of film and all things great about movies & movie stars from yesteryear....First "5" of the season!

From beginning to end there was a smile in my heart. What a great concept. The execution was spot on perfect. Acting, direction, dog, cinematography, cars, opening credits. Each year we see the eventual Oscar winner in the Cinema Society. "the "Artist' is this years presentation. Once again, thank you, Andy
