FALLING OVERNIGHT

Falling Overnight tells the story of twenty-two year old Elliot Carson on the day before he has surgery to remove a brain tumor. Facing what could be his last night, Elliot’s path intersects with Chloe Webb, a young photographer who invites him to her art show. Elliot welcomes the distraction and as the night descends, Chloe takes him on an intimate and exhilarating journey through the city. But as morning approaches, and Chloe learns of Elliot’s condition, the magic of the evening unravels, and they must together face the uncertainty of Elliot’s future.

Directed by Conrad Jackson from a screenplay by Conrad Jackson, Parker Croft and Aaron Golden, FALLING OVERNIGHT stars Parker Croft, and Emilia Zoryan.

Thought the film was just lovely. I couldn't disagree more with the low comments. This was a film about 20 somethings. It felt very realistic and the acting was excellent.

I liked the movie. I also agree with Mark. I joined the Cinema Society to see a variety of movies - some you like more than others. It certainly wasn't a 0.

I think the people who rated "Falling Overnight" so poorly closed their eyes to viewing "a falling in love" moment. Think back to your late teens and twenties. Weren't you comments inane? Weren't you giggly? Weren't you kind of tongue-tied? This movie captures all that and more. What came to my mind is how I try so hard to hear those younger than me.

I always thought my mother-in-law was culturally arrested. Her growth as a human being stopped somewhere in the fifties, and I swore I wouldn't become generationally challenged like so many other people I know. I would always want some connection to the younger generation so I could understand where our future as a society was headed. "Falling Overnight" gave me a glimpse into a brief moment experienced by those younger than me, and the fact that so many older people shun an opportunity to understand those who come after us speaks to a fear of change. No doubt the younger generation speaks differently; so did we according to our parents. Without those peeks into the younger world, we then remain blind as to what might be ahead of us or, even worse, is happening right now.

Zero, if possible. Agree with all other low marks. Thank goodness it was only 84 minutes. I could hear people literally groaning in my row.

My conclusion after viewing this film is that entries at film film festivals must be really bad if this is an award winner.

Hated the story (endless vapid parties), acting (amateur), dialogue (dumb), characters (superficial).

I should have walked out when my row walked out but kept waiting for some redeeming factor. The only good thing about the film was that it finally ended.

Andy, you should add zero to your ratings.

I am frankly shocked by the negative reviews here. I could not disagree more with those who found this movie boring. I thought it was thoroughly absorbing. The pace was entirely appropriate, in my view, given the narrative and the slowly developing connection between the lead characters. I also thought the acting was exceptionally good. The characters seemed believable, and the actors, despite their inexperience, were able to convey a great deal in an understated, spare manner. This is precisely the kind of low-budget, high-quality indie movie that I joined the Cinema Society to see. Please do not let the negative reviews discourage you from bringing more films like this one to the Society.

I really enjoyed it. No it was not perfect, but it's always refreshing to see a new director's startup…every director has their first. The low budget is not a problem and the hand-held just adds to the isolation and fog that Elliott had to be going through. I agree that it was a little slow, but I still enjoyed the dialog as it was appropriate for the age of the characters. It was like listening in on a private conversation and made me remember my earlier date experiences. The chemistry between the characters was priceless.

Notwithstanding the fact that the movie was a little slow, needed further editing, my husband and I enjoyed it. It was sincere and true to the situation at hand.

The only reaction I felt was not sincere was when she found out about his surgery...One does not reveal tumor in the brain on the first day, I suppose.

The acting was good, the story captivating - what else does one need in less than two hours for entertainment?

It was sweet that the whole crew came for the Q&A. I would recommend this film

I liked it, and enjoyed seeing the actors afterwards. These people are unknown and I would rather watch them than Tom Cruz anyday...

I prefer to give this film a zero. I did not

"hate it"= 1 ..But I did regret sitting through the interminable 84 minutes.

I would have left, but felt I would miss a

redeeming ending. It never came... I was sooo

bored. Maybe if I had been a twenty something

with a marginal IQ, I might have appreciated the meaningless dialog.

After years and years of great cinema, this was

my first disappointment.

Nice story but didn’t feel that original. Rather raw and bare-bones, know this is an independent film but it felt too “green”/immature/adolescent. It is more along the lines of something I would expect to see at BestFest. Just didn’t feel like it was the caliber of movies that we are use to, it was not a horrible film just didn’t quite meet my expectations…was VERY slow and needed major editing. They were a very nice earnest crew that I hope the best for in their film making future.

This film seemed very real to me---the pace was slow and measured as if every moment counted. If I was facing what could possibly be the last night of my life and I was in my early 20's I would have done just about everything Elliot did--well almost everything. Not sure I would have eaten the parking ticket, but I could apppreciate why he did. Chloe was not only gorgeous and appealing, she had humor and tenderness while playing opposite Elliot. Thank you Andy for giving this young and very talented cast and crew a real chance to get the film in front of a new audience. I wish them all much success!

You can dine at McDonalds or you can dine at the Pamplemousse Grille. At McDonalds, it’s a rushed experience of sweet and salty food, quickly devoured and forgotten. At Pamplemousse, the cuisine is creative with complex flavors, perfectly prepared, enjoyed slowly, and not soon forgotten. FALLING OVERNIGHT was Pamplemousse.

Wow, I rarely come away from a CS screening thinking "I just wasted 2 hours of my life", but I did last night. Unappealing characters, bad writing and an immature approach to a serious subject about did me in.

Considering this film was made by a host of unknowns I was very impressed.

It did not need sophisticated dialogue.

It was true to the age group that it portrayed.

It was magical in how their reality played out.

I enjoyed it very much.

Didn't love it.... I thought the movie was slow and dragged on ( and on...) Would not recommend it ... but again, interesting Cinema Society evening ....

I was pretty bored too. The whole movie made me glad I'm not in my 20s anymore and that I don't have to put up with boring pointless conversations at parties that last until the wee hours. I thought the dialog was actually pretty true to life, which I why I can stomach giving it a 2 rather than a 1. Sad to say this is the only movie with significant guests for which I chose not to stay for the Q&A.

I'm not a fan of hand-held, but despite that this film really appealed to me. I thought that the actors were terrific and had believable chemistry. I really felt that I was along with them for the night, and rooted for their relationship and future happiness. This film might be targeted for an audience closer to my daughters age, but I loved it nonetheless! I will like them on facebook, follow them on twitter and spread the word (hey, not everyone in the audience is your grandma's age).

I wish the entire crew success with this little gem!

Boring. Completely and totally boring. Amateurish with non-existent dialogue.

In all of my many years inThe Cinema Society have I ever felt offended by one of the presentations. That string ended tonight. This tiresome film had few if any sociialy redeeming qualities. It was dark, as in no lighting. The script was juvenile. The "acting" was like a high school production. Judging films submitted by students at Mark and Claudia's house brought more joy to my soul. In our little section of the theater at least twelve people walked out. They were the smart ones. Let's just hope that "the disease of the week" series has been played out!!!!!

Giving this a one only because I can't give it a zero. This was such a waste of time I am embarrassed. Kept waiting for something to happen. Nothing did. We all commented on the beautful tall girl in the white pants in the lobby but that was the only redeeming value. What made others choose this as the audience favorite? It was like hanging out with my granddaughter and her friends for an all nighter with no payoff. Not good. In fact-- bad. Should have left like many others did. By the way, can you tell I didn't like it? At all....
