Finding humor in unlikely places…

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen star as best friends whose lives are changed by a cancer diagnosis.

50/50 is the story of a guy’s transformative and, yes, sometimes funny journey to health—drawing its emotional core from screenwriter Will Reiser’s own experience with cancer, and reminding us that friendship, and love, no matter what bizarre turns they take, are the greatest healers.

Directed by Jonathan Levine from a script by Will Reiser, 50/50 stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard and Angelica Huston. A Summit Entertainment Release, 50/50 opens commercially in San Diego on September 30th.

Running Time: 99 Minutes Rated R for language throughout, sexual content and some drug use

Felt real and true. Imparts knowledge on better understanding what cancer patients might experience along with how family & friends might react and their ability to cope (or not). Not too “heavy” of a film but an even glimpse of a personal experience.

Of course I liked it--a moving tribute to friendship and perserverance---with a happy ending! There were a few tissues left in my pocket, but not many.

Liked it. Didn't love it. Agree with a few of the other posts regarding unbelievable aspects...BUT it was well acted and very touching in moments.

Usually when Andy says "hanky alert" I am left dry eyed and unmoved. Such was not the case tonight. I liked the movie, although I found some plot points a bit implausible. Would an oncologist really be so obtuse when announcing a diagnosis to his patient? Would such a green therapist really be assigned on her own to counsel a cancer patient? I didn't quite believe it. The one part I found particularly moving involved Seth Rogan's character. When it was revealed that he had actually read the book and taken notes, I did get a little teary-eyed. Go figure. Overall, I like it, but didn't love it. I would tell my friends to see it, but to wait for the DVD.

Seth Rogen is so good at playing obnoxious characters in movie that I can't stand him in any movie he's in. 50/50 was no exception. I actually had the inclination to get up and walk out at one point just because his character was such a jerk. The movie itself was otherwise fine considering the very difficult subject matter.

Unfortunately nothing from the film lasted long enough to make the parking lot. Kept waiting for the emotions to kick in. Never did. The actors did a fine job. Seth Rogan is always a delight. Myself, I swear like a sailor. But why was it necessary here? I'm sure cancer survisors and their families will see something I didn't

“50/50” is a road movie. Adam and Kyle embark on a journey confronting cancer. What a film! Well-acted with an excellent screenplay, “50/50” entertains, illuminates, and inspires. Gordon-Levitt and Rogan are brilliant as the road warriors and Kendrick, Howard, and Huston are excellent as supporters. Equally impressive is the cinematography, burning images into our minds such as Adam’s face on his pillow. P.S. Mark did a fine job setting up the film.
