COME AS YOU ARE (HASTA LA VISTA!)

The Cinema Society is proud to be saluting the nation of Belgium this season, and is honored to welcome back the hit of our season last year—COME AS YOU ARE (HASTA LA VISTA).

In this comedy-drama, three guys in their twenties love wine and women. Wine they have savored abundantly, but they have never had a woman. Under the guise of a wine tour they embark on a journey to Spain hoping to rectify that fact. Nothing will stop them. Not even their disabilities: one is blind, the second is confined to a wheelchair and the third is completely paralyzed.

Come As You Are is loosely based on the story of Asta Philpot, an American afflicted with arthrogryposis who fights for disabled people and their sexual rights. Philpot was the subject of a British documentary For One Night Only and was featured on several talk shows including Oprah.

"For me, this is a very human story," says director Enthoven. "What I really want to show with this film is that all of us are living with a handicap when it comes to communicating with others."
